Rosebud

Well, I've just done one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but it was worth it in the end. As some of you know, Rosebud has not been a very happy camper since Jillian arrived. She has been sullen, her tail has been at half mast and she has spent a lot of time under the bed. After months of agonizing over what to do I finally came to terms with the fact that she was not going to come out of her slump as long as Jillian was here.

So, I took her, on Dec. 1, to an adoption day near the new house, sponsored by the Animal Compassion Network. I cannot tell you how great this organization is. They go above and beyond and the whole process was very professional.

Anyway, it was a beautiful and sunny day and Rosebud picked out the best couple to adopt as her new owners. She made it very obvious that she wanted M & K to become her new family and was very relaxed and at ease with them, through the whole paperwork and interview process. After they passed the home visit inspection last Monday we knew it was a done deal. I took her to her new home this past Thursday and rather than cry the whole time I found myself laughing and cheering her on as she ran (and ran and ran) around her new yard. She inspected every inch and managed to conjure up the puppy crazies a few times. She was grinning ear to ear and I knew it was the right decision and a great fit.

M & K, thank you a thousand times over for opening your hearts and home to a new cuddly creature. Your updates on her progress have just been wonderful. I look forward to seeing you sometime in the next few months. I promise not to tell Luray and Halle that Rose has FOUR dog beds, with one being right near the fireplace and about 6 inches thick. They might want to adopt you too.

Rose and I with her new family.

Sacked out after a long day of walks, romps in the backyard and playing with Bobo, her new next door neighbor.

I know how tough it was to let her go. I am so thrilled that you found a wonderful new home where she can be so happy!! Sounds like you will be able to visit too. It doesn't get any better.

Anne,

This was such a hard decision for you and I know that you have thought about this possibility, even before Jillian arrived! I am thrilled that Rosebud has such a wonderful new home...your Mom told us that she has already been hiking!

I wish you the best of luck with your move! We will miss you!!
Love,
Frances
