So much for that....

Well, Jillian's three night stretch of sleeping straight through the night is long over. I had so hoped I could brag that the night terrors had ended, but alas they are still rearing their ugly heads. She had a pretty rough night, night before last. I think I got about 3-4 hrs tops. She woke crying, hollering and thrashing at least 6-7 times before 1am. After that she was mostly up and fighting the urge to sleep. I can't blame her. If I had night terrors I wouldn't want to sleep either. But while it was a long night for me, my heart just went out to her. I can't begin to tell you why it was a worse night than others. Fortunately, she still managed to have a great day at daycare yesterday. The reports are positive and she has started playing with some of the other kids on a more regular basis. Crying was at a minimum. She slept better last night so I'm hoping today was also a good day. Better means I only had to get up 3-4 times. Sigh.

All in all, I can't really complain. Other than sleep problems she's a real trooper. Just this morning I found several splinters from the deck, in the palm of her hand. Two were pretty swollen and when I washed her hand the splinters had pretty much surfaced. They were easy to get out and she was really cooperative. I just couldn't believe she hadn't complained or shown me her sore hand. Heck, she shows me her hand when nothing is wrong so certainly I would've thought she would have shown me her splinters. Lord knows I can't stop messing with a splinter when I have one, but she just didn't seem affected at all.

This picture was taken last week. Isn't that the sweetest face! Notice that's a statement, not a question. ; )

And the big gift was a wagon from The Stodolski's. Jillian had just managed to get the bow off when Luray came barreling in to "help" unwrap the present. Let me repeat an earlier post...never teach a big, huge dog to unwrap presents. It's cute until you have kids and they can't unwrap their own gifts. The saving grace is that once the paper is off, Luray lumbers off to rest from all the excitement. It's hard being 10 1/2 and now the guardian of a 17 month old. Poor old girl.

And forgive me for not mentioning Rosebud more often. She has definitely warmed up to Jillian and has actually let her pet her several times. But, she usually stays at a distance of about three feet. This completely sends Jillian into fits at times, but she's so young she gets bored and stops to investigate some tiny speck on the floor and this allows Rose to scamper off to safety.
